What is Emacs?
Emacs is a text editor.
It’s an application you use to edit text, much like Microsoft Word or Notepad.
It’s been around for about 48 years and shows no signs of going anywhere.
It also infinitely customisable and a giant rabbithole.
People use Emacs to
- take notes,
- write books,
- manage tasks,
- manage their lives,
- do email/slack,
- program (and debug, use the terminal, etc.),
and a lot of other stuff.
